The Light of Christmas 🎄🌟 | December 2024

“In him was life and the life was the light of men. The light shines in the darkness,

and the darkness has not overcome it.” ~ John 1:4-5 ~

For centuries, lights have held a significant part in Christmas decorations. The earliest uses of lights for adorning homes, churches, and trees can be traced back to medieval Germany. While our modern lights look quite different from those early European traditions, Christmas lights continue to illuminate dark nights all over the world. On a dark winter’s night, lights shine from miles away. Sometimes as we are driving out in the countryside, we long to see the smallest glimpses of sparkling light. You could say that the darkness helps us to appreciate the light.

This reminds us of the darkness of a world without Christ. As we celebrate His birth, we rejoice that Jesus, the Light of the World, entered the darkness with a light so bright that the darkness could not overcome it. That Light gave life to mankind. So while we marvel at the beauty of the physical lights around us, let us also reflect on the radiance that the light of Jesus brings. As the darkness helps us to appreciate the light, let us share that Light, the greatest gift, with those who still dwell in darkness.

2024 has been a year of transitions and changes. We began the year by moving and adjusting to a new season of life and ministry. In July, we transitioned yet again into our 10-month furlough. In all of these changes, our good God remains the same, providing us with many Ebenezers to remind us of His faithfulness. We want to praise Him specifically for His provision for us this year. God often provides through His people, so we thank those of you who have contributed to our needs, especially by giving to our travel expenses. Like the Israelites in the wilderness, we have lacked nothing (Neh. 9:21). Several have also assisted us in replacing items that were stolen last May. Thank you so much!

As we look ahead to 2025, we have many more miles to travel from February-April. We have a full schedule of conferences and ministry updates in the midwest and New England. We anticipate joyous reunions with more supporters, friends, and family. The time will pass quickly, and before we know it, our return to Ecuador (May 2025) will be upon us. We are so thankful that "in every change, He faithful will remain." Thank you for your faithful part in the ministry in Ecuador. As we say in Ecuador, ¡Felíz Navidad, y un prospero Año Nuevo! (Merry Christmas, and a Happy New Year!).

About Us

Our hearts are burdened for the Ecuadorian people who have never heard the Gospel, people who have been blinded by traditions and customs. We hope to reach these people with the love of Christ. Our desire is to build the church by evangelizing the lost, making disciples and training leaders.
